Russia Changes Arctic Map Due To What It Calls Global Warming-9 New Islands Discovered
After reaching Novaya Zemlya and Franz Josef Land, the expedition conducted research on many islands in the area. Over the course of the expedition, which lasted 41 days, hydrographers surveyed more than 5,000 kilometers along the bottom of the Ocean, the source said.Apart from the discovery of major geographic objects, the expedition identified at least 15 new changes in the area that require corrections to be made in 23 navigational maps, guides and manuals. The changes are said to have happened due to global warming, Vesti.ru reported.
Prophecy of Bulgarian Mystic Peter Deunov Predicts Coming Superwave 39 Years Before the Superwave Theory Was First Proposed
“Our solar system is now traversing a region of the Cosmos where a constellation that was destroyed left its mark, its dust. This crossing of a contaminated space is a source of poisoning, not only for the inhabitants of the earth, but for all the inhabitants of the other planets of our galaxy. Only the suns are not affected by the influence of this hostile environment. This region is called “the thirteenth zone”; one also calls it “the zone of contradictions”. Our planet was enclosed in this region for thousands of years, but finally we are approaching the exit of this space of darkness and we are on the point of attaining a more spiritual region, where more evolved beings live.”
Indeed, just as he prophecies the solar system has for a long period of time, perhaps for the past 3 million years, been passing through the rim of the North Polar Spur supernova remnant, a cloud of dust and gas left from the explosion of a star many millions of years ago. Astronomers acknowledge the presence of dust clouds even contacting the fringe of our solar system. Also most of the long period comets that enter the solar system, that many claim to come from the Oort cloud, actually are part of this interstellar debris field and are entering due to the Sun’s passage through this debris zone. According to the superwave theory I advanced in 1983, the presence of this nearby dust is responsible for why Earth has been going through a sequence of ice ages for the past 3 million years. For millions of years before that time we had no ice ages because we had not entered this dusty zone. For more information consult my Ph.D. dissertation, or read my book Earth Under Fire.
One would do well to read his amazing prophecy which is related in this four page document which is an adaptation written by Olivier de Rouvroy – September 2003: http://www.progressions.info/Peter%20Deunov.pdf. Alternatively, for a synopsis one can also view the following youtube video which tells a bit about Deunov’s life and narrates highlights of his superwave/human transformation prophecy:
Peter Deunov begins his prophecy with an accurate reference to a coming Galactic superwave. He states:
“…everybody will soon be subjugated to divine Fire, that will purify and prepare them in regards to the New Era.
Russians are usually pretty good planners, do you suppose they are just pulling your leg when they say this?
With the Arctic becoming warmer and its natural riches more accessible, leading nations are eager to get their share of the pie. Thanks to its geographical position Russia will get the biggest slice. And it’s not sparing any expense to add a military backing to its economic claim, especially since it has an edge due to experience and the world’s best fleet of icebreakers.

The high cliffs of Eastern Siberia – which mainly consist of permafrost – continue to erode at an ever quickening pace. This is the conclusion which scientists of the Alfred Wegener Institute, Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research have reached after their evaluation of data and aerial photographs of the coastal regions for the last 40 years.
It is the sun
Russian scientist Dr. Dmitriev Of The Russian Academy of Sciences Indicates The Earth Is Moving Into An Area Of Space With A Much Higher Energy Level
I am trying to condense several links here into something that makes sense and partially explains the anomalies we currently see around the globe and in the solar system. Sometimes referring to Russian scientists gives us a perspective that is sometimes covered over in the west.
Russian scientist Dr. Dmitriev of the Russian Academy of Sciences indicates the earth is moving into an area of space with a much higher energy level. In the last 114 years the earth’s magnetic field has become over 200% stronger. The edge of the heliosphere is one of plasma which is becoming more luminous and excited.
We have all been treated to a litany consisting of rocket scientists on blogs, many who receive grants to espouse climate change denial, that nothing is going on, it is just Algore trying to impose that carbon tax on us. A snow storm in the midwest is generally used to deride any other type argument.
Anyway it is the Russian contention this is altering the DNA spiral and will bring in a new energy which will change all matter in the solar system due to expanding harmonic wavelengths. It is changing the planets and the type of life they are able to support.
Bear in mind the Russians say it is not related to global warming, fluorocarbon emissions or CFS.
Dr. Dmitriev refers to Natrium in the growing atmosphere of the moon, the changing poles of various planets of our solar system.
We belong to the Sagittarius galaxy which is joining up with the Milky Way. It is not our parent galaxy so what happens and what energy fields and space bodies encountered is anybody’s guess.
Doomsday Dan Eden
Let’s talk about Earth now.
The Russians report two more facts: On Earth, the overall volcanic activity increased 500 percent from 1875 to 1975, while the earthquake activity has increased by 400 percent since 1973. Dr. Dmitriev says that comparing the years 1963 to 1993, the overall number of natural disasters — hurricanes, typhoons, mud slides, tidal waves, etc. — has increased by 410 percent.
The Earth’s magnetic field has been decreasing. This decrease actually began 2000 years ago, but the rate of decrease suddenly became much more rapid 500 years ago. Now, in the last 20 years or so, the magnetic field has become erratic. Aeronautical maps of the world — which are used to allow airplanes to land using automatic pilot systems — have had to be revised worldwide in order for the automatic pilot systems to work. (This is very easy to check. Simply look at an aeronautical map prior to 1990 for any particular city airport, and then compare it to a present-day map.)
Late last year, the Arctic ice cap on the exact spot of the North Pole completely melted for the first time in known history. Green Peace reported that, relative to the winter ice pattern, the cap had previously melted over 300 miles toward the pole, and that late last year both military and civilian ships were able to actually pass directly over the North Pole. It was water. Until now, as far as we know, there has never been a time where the ice was less than ten feet thick.
In contrast, the South Pole has an ice cap that is about three miles deep, and yet huge pieces of ice continue to break off and melt.
What Is Going On?
The sun is about to flip its magnetic field, at the peak of its 11-year solar cycle or at the half-way point of what scientists call a solar maximum – when it is at its most violent in terms of solar flares and the Earth is most vulnerable to an electromagnetic pulse.

Current PlanetoPhysical alterations of the Earth are becoming irreversible. Strong evidence exists that these transformations are being caused by highly charged material and energetic non-uniformity’s in anisotropic interstellar space which have broken into the interplanetary area of our Solar System. This “donation” of energy is producing hybrid processes and excited energy states in all planets, as well as the Sun. Effects here on Earth are to be found in the acceleration of the magnetic pole shift, in the vertical and horizontal ozone content distribution, and in the increased frequency and magnitude of significant catastrophic climatic events. There is growing probability that we are moving into a rapid temperature instability period similar to the one that took place 10,000 years ago. The adaptive responses of the biosphere, and humanity, to these new conditions may lead to a total global revision of the range of species and life on Earth. It is only through a deep understanding of the fundamental changes taking place in the natural environment surrounding us that politicians, and citizens a like, will be able to achieve balance with the renewing flow of PlanetoPhysical states and processes.
Current, in process, geological, geophysical, and climatical alterations of the Earth are becoming more, and more, irreversible. At the present time researchers are revealing some of the causes which are leading to a general reorganization of the electro-magnetosphere (the electromagnetic skeleton) of our planet, and of its climatic machinery. A greater number of specialists in climatology, geophysics, planetophysics, and heliophysics are tending towards a cosmic causative sequence version for what is happening. Indeed, events of the last decade give strong evidence of unusually significant heliospheric and planetophysic transformations [1,2]. Given the quality, quantity, and scale of these transformations we may say that:
The climatic and biosphere processes here on Earth (through a tightly connected feedback system) are directly impacted by, and linked back to, the general overall transformational processes taking place in our Solar System. We must begin to organize our attention and thinking to understand that climatic changes on Earth are only one part, or link, in a whole chain of events taking place in our Heliosphere.
In the magnetosphere by magnetic storms.
In the atmosphere by cyclones.
This high-energy atmospheric phenomena, which was rare in the past, is now becoming more frequent, intense, and changed in its nature. The material composition of the gas-plasma envelope is also being transformed.
It is quite natural for the whole biota of the Earth to be subjected to these changing conditions of the electromagnetic field, and to the significant deep alterations of Earth’s climatic machinery. These fundamental processes of change create a demand within all of Earth’s life organisms for new forms of adaptation. The natural development of these new forms may lead to a total global revision of the range of species, and life, on Earth . New deeper qualities of life itself may come forth, bringing the new physical state of the Earth to an equilibrium with the new organismic possibilities of development, reproduction, and perfection. In this sense it is evident that we are faced with a problem of the adaptation of humanity to this new state of the Earth; new conditions on Earth whose biospheric qualities are varying, and non-uniformly distributed. Therefore the current period of transformation is transient, and the transition of life’s representatives to the future may take place only after a deep evaluation of what it will take to comply with these new Earthly biospheric conditions. Each living representative on Earth will be getting a thorough “examination,” or “quality control inspection,” to determine it’s ability to comply with these new conditions. These evolutionary challenges always require effort, or endurance, be it individual organisms, species, or communities. Therefore, it is not only the climate that is becoming new, but we as human beings are experiencing a global change in the vital processes of living organisms, or life itself; which is yet another link in the total process. We cannot treat such things separately, or individually.

http://nexusilluminati.blogspot.com/2011/12/plasma-changes-in-solar-system.htmlX-Ray FlaresAfter the peak of the last eleven-year sunspot cycle in 1999, the sun has had a number of extremely large x-ray flare events. One of these, on April 2, 2001, was so large that it went off the scale completely. The previous scale ran to X-20 as the highest category, but this solar flare had to be categorized as an X-22 event. The x-ray burst was not in the direction of Earth, but a much smaller x-ray flare in 1989 was responsible for knocking out the whole Canadian power grid. If the X-22 event had hit Earth, possible consequences could have included major power outages, interruption of the Internet, damage to telecommunications and GPS satellites, and even the wiping of computer hard drives. The most powerful flare observed since then happened on November 4, 2003. It lasted eleven minutes and produced an x-ray flux of X-28.The Carrington EventThese recent events, though very significant, are not actually the largest solar flares ever recorded. That honor goes to a flare that happened on September 1, 1859. This has become known as the Carrington event after Richard Carrington, the young English astronomer who saw the event as it happened from his private observatory. It was a remarkable piece of luck that he happened to be observing the sun at the particular moment that the flare erupted, because the event lasted for less than five minutes. In that time, a huge knot of sunspots appeared and generated a plume that was by far the biggest observed in the 160 years records have been kept. Before dawn on the following day, a huge firework display of auroral lights bathed Earth, reaching as far south as the Caribbean. The rainbow-hued lights were so brilliant that it was said to be possible to read by them as if it were daylight. The Carrington event also caused major disruption to the telegraph system worldwide.Conventional astronomy suggests that a flare of this size may only happen once every 500 years or so, but even greater flares have been observed on other stars. Some of these stellar megaflares have emitted quantities of radiation that would be likely to cause major loss of life on Earth. The Emerald Tablet
The Emerald Tablet or Tabula Smaragdina is Hermes’ most famous legacy and his best known work among modern-day practitioners of alchemy. Many legends exist regarding the discovery of the Emerald Tablet, although the most popular seems to be the story of Alexander the Great unearthing the text in Hermes’ tomb. The original Emerald Tablet, however, is lost to time.
The content of the Emerald Tablet is quite short and deals with the nature of magic and the creation of life and matter by one God. Philosophical in nature, the text is often ambiguous and requires abstract interpretation. Hermes may have also derived his moniker “Thrice Great” from the tablet, its twelfth entry stating: “Therefore am I called Hermes Trismegistus, possessing the three parts of the philosophy of the whole world.” It is difficult to identity the “three parts of the philosophy of the whole world”. It may have been in reference to the process of deifying a mortal. Others apply a more literal meaning, stating he was the greatest philosopher of various intellectual disciplines, such as natural science.
We don’t know if it was in the library of Alexandria as morons burned it out.
Where Ignorance Becomes Bliss
Update 7-7, 2015
As we confront catastrophic climate change which is likely to result in near-term human extinction, we must ask if we are willing to put love into action, even if we don’t survive. Can we move beyond a triumphalist agenda? Accepting the possibility of near-term extinction is an agony, but an agony that liberates the spiritual warrior in the powers of truth and love in order to discover the diamond hidden in the darkness that cannot be discovered in relentless fighting in order to “overcome.” The diamond can only be acquired by surrendering the need for anyone or anything to survive, even oneself. In the words of Andrew Harvey this is “a glorious and terrible adventure, but it is the antidote to despair.”
For those who have eyes to see and ears to hear, please know that the current pandemic of ignorance and arrogance is quite purposeful. It is induced — by the Universe itself — for the protection of the masses so that their ignorance has become bliss. The bliss that comes with not knowing the grim realities which abound everywhere one looks.
Yes it is tongue in cheek. I am always amazed by those who use the standard line of nothing is happening, nothing is going on with the climate. Yeah we had severe snow storm in the North east of the United States. This type thing is always used for the climate change denier industry. And no Mr. Gore, climate change is only affected by approximately one percent when it comes to fossil fuel usage. The other 99% is a result of cosmic forces in the universe. There are those who would write you off when attempting to explain this phenomenon. Guess what I write them off immediately also, they are spouting the party line. I look at blogs which sometimes offer amazing analysis of our current situation but on the other hand cling to this ideas that (nothing is going on with the climate). And yes chemtrails do play a part in all of this, but not a definitive one. Chemtrails aside from the HAARP project do affect this situation.
Brazilians Hoard Water, Prepare for Possible Drastic Rationing
In São Paulo, the country’s largest city with a metropolitan area of 20 million people, the main reservoir is at just 6 percent of capacity with the peak of the rainy season now past.
According to the researchers, the reasons for this increasing erosion are rising summer temperatures in the Russian permafrost regions as well the retreat of the Arctic sea ice.
This coastal protection recedes more and more on an annual basis. As a result, waves undermine the shores. At the same time, the land surface begins to sink. The small island of Muostakh east of the Lena Delta is especially affected by these changes. Experts fear that it might even disappear altogether should the loss of land continue.
The interconnectedness is clear and unambiguous: The warmer the east Siberian permafrost regions become, the quicker the coast erodes. “If the average temperature rises by 1 degree Celsius in the summer, erosion accelerates by 1.2 metres annually,” says AWI geographer Frank Gunther, who investigates the causes of the coastal breakdown in Eastern Siberia together with German and Russian colleagues, and who has published his findings in two scientific articles.
In these studies, he and his team evaluated high resolution air and satellite photos from 1951 to 2012 as well as measurements of the past four years. In addition, the researchers surveyed four coastal sections along the Laptev Sea (see map) and on the island of Muostakh.
One example of the changes documented in their research are the warming summers. While the temperatures during the period of investigation exceeded zero degrees Celsius on an average of 110 days per year, the scientists counted a total of 127 days in the years 2010 and 2011. The following year, 2012, the number of days with temperatures above freezing increased to 134.
This increase in temperature is not without consequences. Whereas a thick layer of sea ice used to protect the frozen soil almost all year round, it now recedes in this part of the Arctic for increasing periods of time during the summer months. The number of summer days on which the sea ice in the southern Laptew Sea vanishes completely grows steadily.
“During the past two decades, there were, on average, fewer than 80 ice-free days in this region per year. During the past three years, however, we counted 96 ice-free days on average. Thus, the waves can nibble at the permafrost coasts for approximately two more weeks each year,” explains AWI permafrost researcher Paul Overduin.
The waves dig deep recesses into the base of the high coasts. The result: The undermined slopes break off bit by bit. During the past 40 years, the coastal areas surveyed retreated on average 2.2 meters per year. “During the past four years, this value has increased at least 1.6 times, in certain instances up to 2.4 times to reach 5.3 meters per year,” says Paul Overduin.
For the little island of Muostakh east of the harbour town of Tiksi, this may well mean extinction.
“In fewer than one hundred years, the island will break up into several sections, and then it will disappear quickly,” predicts Frank Gunther. On its northern tip, the island shows fluctuating annual erosion rates between 10 and 20 meters per year, and it has already lost 24 per cent of its area in the past 60 years.
Because the subsurface here consists of more than 80 per cent of ice that has formed within the soil, and since the ice is gradually melting, the island’s surface collapses as well. The scientists speak of a 34 per cent loss in volume.
“If one bears in mind that it took tens of thousands of years for the island to form through sedimentary deposition, then its disintegration is proceeding at a very rapid pace,” says Paul Overduin.
In addition, long-term studies conducted by AWI scientists show the impact of coastal erosion for the sea as well. Depending on the kind of erosion and the particular structure of the coast, between 88 and 800 tons of plant-, animal, and microorganism-based carbon are currently washed into the sea per year and kilometer of coastline – these are materials that had been sealed in the permafrost thus far.
With regard to the Laptev Sea, this translates into approximately one eighth of the organic carbon that is transported by the Lena River annually – and the Lena is a river that encompasses a drainage basin the size of the Mediterranean.
“We can, however, assume larger quantities if this accelerating coastal erosion we currently observe continues,” the scientists write in their subject-specific paper for the Biogeosciences special volume: “Interactions between the land and sea in the Lena Delta Region.” Once in the water, carbon may turn into carbon dioxide and, as a result, contribute to the acidification of the oceans: the composition of our oceans becomes less alkaline.
These studies were conducted as part of the PROGRESS project which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

2013 winter was the fourth hottest on record globally
The year 2013 ties with 2003 as the fourth warmest year globally since records began in 1880. The annual global combined land and ocean surface temperature was 0.62°C (1.12°F) above the 20th century average of 13.9°C (57.0°F). This marks the 37th consecutive year (since 1976) that the yearly global temperature was above average. Currently, the warmest year on record is 2010, which was 0.66°C (1.19°F) above average. Including 2013, 9 of the 10 warmest years in the 134-year period of record have occurred in the 21st century. Only one year during the 20th century—1998—was warmer than 2013.
Greenland ice loss doubles from late 2000s – Greenland and Antarctica together are losing 500 cubic kilometers of ice each year – ‘To us, that’s an incredible number’
Noticed Anything Unusual Lately, Biblical Floods, Volcanic Eruption, Earthquakes? There Is More To This Than Ha Ha Al Gore Was Wrong
These days it is a given everytime FOX or John Daily comes out with evidence that global warming is off, you will see a plethora of relating news indicating how foolish Al Gore was to push global warming and his carbon tax. Well we all like to prove Al Gore and the carbon tax is foolish but there is a little more to it. I am beginning to think this was the ultimate bait and switch. It is like the old conservative vs liberal mind lock, Hegelian ping pong match. It is getting warmer, no wait it is not everything is cooling.
Flooding of biblical proportions in Colorado as some 1900 fracking wells are under water spreading petroleum far and wide!
It came from below, not from above bubba! Algore’s job will not be finished until everybody believes the wrong thing.
Global sea level is currently rising at a rate just over three millimeters (about an eighth of an inch) per year, due to a combination of melting ice and the expansion of seawater driven by warming. Future increases in mass loss from the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets are expected to significantly enhance the rate of global sea-level rise as these ice-sheet changes become an increasingly dominant contributor. Considerable uncertainty remains in predictions, however, as ice sheets show a complex response to climate change, which is only now becoming apparent through the use of improved computer models.

“As the central organizing principle of the Solar System, the sun has a greater effect on the behavior of the earth’s core than any other influence. This relationship must be recognized, understood and respected if this generation is to successfully navigate through this window of awesome planetary transition. It is not difficult to imagine how a hotter, faster spinning core will affect the seven seas, which will then impact every weather pattern on the planet. Likewise, it ought to be easy to envision the many geological disturbances as a reflex of these profound shifts and movements deep in the earth. “As below, so above.”
It came from beneath the sea!
A paper published today in the science journal Nature reveals that the melting of Antarctica’s ice sheet is being driven by a warming ocean more than a warming atmosphere.
Which means even though summer air temperatures have not yet warmed enough to substantially melt Antarctica’s surface snows, the oceans are undermining the frozen continent from below—fueling a recent, widespread, and intensifying glacier acceleration and its accompanying rise in sea levels.
The results are based on 4.5 million measurements made by a laser instrument mounted on NASA’s now defunct ICESat satellite between 2003 and 2008, which mapped the thickness of most floating ice shelves around Antarctica. The results:
- Of 54 ice shelves mapped, 20 are being melted by warm ocean currents, most of those in West Antarctica.
- In all cases the inland glaciers that flow down to the coast and feed into these thinning ice shelves have accelerated, draining more ice into the sea and contributing to sea-level rise.
“There has been lots of talk lately about Antarctica and whether or not the continent’s giant ice sheet is melting. One new paper 1, which states there’s less surface melting recently than in past years, has been cited as “proof” that there’s no global warming. Other evidence that the amount of sea ice around Antarctica seems to be increasing slightly 2-4 is being used in the same way. But both of these data points are misleading. Gravity data collected from space using NASA’s Grace satellite show that Antarctica has been losing more than a hundred cubic kilometers (24 cubic miles) of ice each year since 2002. The latest data reveal that Antarctica is losing ice at an accelerating rate, too. How is it possible for surface melting to decrease, but for the continent to lose mass anyway? The answer boils down to the fact that ice can flow without melting. “
Maybe it is just one of those things right, I mean after all the seas are not rising …. are they? Yes Marsha, they are rising. I mean it is better to sink into the sea than admit you have listened to buffoons for years trying to tell you nothing is happening. It is probably the story of the modern west. I am pretty sure I can get on the web today and find something about how there is no climate change anywhere. Say isn’t this like telling people at Fukushima there is nothing going on, just a couple of pipes to weld?
“It seems nobody talks about climate change, but everybody wants to do something about it. Consider this head-in-the-wet-sand piece from the Miami Herald, “Rain or no rain, beachfront streets flood due to ‘spring tide’.”
You probably think it would be impossible for an entire news article on worsening street flooding in Miami to omit any mention whatsoever of global warming or even sea level rise. Think again.
“It gets super flooded from the tide every couple of months,” said [Moses] Schwartz who lived on the island for more than 20 years before moving to the Brickell area on the mainland. “It’s getting worse and worse as the years go by.”
Hmm. Why is it getting worse? The Miami Herald offers no explanation. This is all it has to say about the cause of the flooding:”
Core samples, tide gauge readings, and, most recently, satellite measurements tell us that over the past century, the Global Mean Sea Level (GMSL) has risen by 4 to 8 inches (10 to 20 centimeters). However, the annual rate of rise over the past 20 years has been 0.13 inches (3.2 millimeters) a year, roughly twice the average speed of the preceding 80 years.
Rising Seas Threaten Nuclear Power Plants
Norfolk, Virginia’s Rising Sea Levels And Sinking Ground Pose A Community Challenge (VIDEO)
Experts predict that the effects of climate change may have the greatest impact on low-lying, and often developing nations, but countries like the United States are not immune.
The low-lying city of Norfolk, Virginia, located at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay, is not only susceptible to sea level rise, but is already experiencing it. Norfolk’s longtime mayor, Paul Fraim, told PBS’ Climate Desk that “There’s no question that the problem’s getting worse.”
Although measurable sea level rise has occurred along the U.S. East Coast, “just over half” of Norfolk’s roughly 14 inch sea level rise since 1930 is a result of sinking land, explains PBS. The combination of Norfolk’s coastal presence and marshy soil has put Norfolk’s sea level rise at “almost double the global rate.”
Despite an awareness of the risks facing Norfolk, there is still room for improvement. A2012 NRDC report placed Virginia among other states that are “largely unprepared and lagging behind” in water-related climate change preparedness. In fact, the Norfolk-Virginia Beach metropolitan area was ranked 10th in the world for risk of sea level rise, explained Examiner.com.
When the presidential candidates talk about the long-term economic security of the US, they often talk about the national debt, the viability of Medicare and Social Security, and the rise of China.
But there’s another issue that could have major implications for the nation’s economy, and it’s barely mentioned at all: the soaring costs America might face in generations to come from climate change. More specifically, the very damaging and very costly effects ofsea level rise.
According to recent research put out by Climate Central, close to four million Americans now live in coastal communities that could see increased flooding caused by sea-level rise. The kind of flooding that was once considered extremely rare could happen more and more often, with devastating economic consequences.
The city of Norfolk, Va., is getting an early look at what sea-level rise means for a big coastal community. The city is experiencing sea-level rise earlier than most because not only are the seas around the city going up, but much of the land beneath Norfolk is going down. This one-two punch means the city is seeing today the kind of flooding that many cities could experience down the road if the scientific projections of sea-level rise play out.
We went to Norfolk recently and talked with Mayor Paul Fraim about how he’s grappling with the flooding that’s occurring more and more often in his city. In what may be a first for an American mayor, Fraim tells Need to Know that if sea-level rise continues, some parts of his city may have to be abandoned to the rising tide. Here’s our report:
Florida Scientists and Local Government Officials Urge Presidential Candidates to Address Sea Level Rise
Sea Level Rise Impacts Felt Around the State
WASHINGTON (Oct. 11, 2012) – More than 120 city and county officials and scientists in Florida, all of whom are working on issues related to sea level rise, sent a letter to the presidential candidates today urging them to discuss, at campaign stops in Florida and at the October 22 Boca Raton debate, how they will address rising sea levels that threaten the state.
Sea level has already risen about 8 inches along Florida’s coast and is having profound effects, according to the letter. “Because Florida is so densely populated,” the letter states, “it is estimated 40 percent of the population and housing units at risk from sea level rise in the nation are here, in the state of Florida.”
Government advisers are there on the scene advising on means to fight the rising seas and crumbling sea walls. You see it is so simple.
At the conference, attended by about 170 government officials, scientists and consultants, officials talked about the challenging future faced by South Florida, where rising seas will lead to more frequent floods, threats to drinking water and the heavy financial burden of building sea walls, protecting well fields and improving drainage systems.
Jennifer Jurado, director of natural resource planning and management for Broward County, said South Florida is particularly vulnerable because of its flat topography, location on a peninsula, dense coastal development and shallow, porous aquifer.
Current planning in South Florida works from estimates that sea levels will rise by nine to 24 inches by 2060, on top of the nine inches they have gone up in the past century, she said.
Although the most obvious impacts may be along the coast, Jurado said even inland residents would be affected. Water will push up through storm drains connected to the ocean. And as sea levels rise, salt water will continue encroaching on South Florida’s underground aquifer, threatening to knock out wells used for drinking water, a process that is well underway.
“The saltwater line has continued to move westward for decades,” she said. “We know that sea level rise accelerates its movement.”
In the Florida Keys, rising seas threaten endangered species such as the Key deer, whose main island, Big Pine Key, faces a loss of 34 percent of its land to the ocean under the best-case scenario, said Rhonda Haag, sustainability coordinator for Monroe County. Higher sea levels are already affecting heavily developed islands, such as Key West, she said.
“We’re seeing more routine flooding, not just at extreme high tides but at regular high tides,” she said.
News reports this week said the Obama administration was preparing a major initiative to reduce emissions of global-warming gases from power plants, increase the energy efficiency of buildings and appliances and boost the use of renewable energy.
Sutley, chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality, said no matter what we do to reduce greenhouse gases, we have to plan for a warmer, wetter world.
“The president recognizes that even as we need to do everything we can to reduce the impact of climate change, we also have to prepare,” she said.
But there is more, much more
Mass methane release appears to be picking up speed by the day in the Arctic as well as countless other locations around the globe.
The atmospheric methane graphic below, released yesterday, should be a stark wake up call for any that understand the ramifications.
While CNN shows us 20 minutes at a time of the JonBenét Ramsey murder saga from seventeen years ago, which all the networks have done in recent days, globally game changing events are unfolding at blinding speed with not so much as a word from the media.
The Geoengineers are going for broke in their ever more destructive attempt to hide converging climate catastrophes while making the entire situation exponentially worse in the process. Geoengineering is ripping apart the web of life on our planet. The highly toxic fallout from the spraying is literally poisoning all that lives.
“Epic” methane release in the Laptev Sea and many other areas are cases in point. Even the recent quake off the coast of Fukushima appears to have triggered significant methane release in that region. Main stream media is doing their part to obscure such dire truths from the public till the last possible moment. Unfortunately, a huge percentage of the population is all to willing to ram their heads into the sand and gulp down whatever the corporate media machine feeds them.
And there is a wild card out there!
Well several of them. Jumping Jack Flash is really jumping
They say a picture is worth a thousand words.
Scientist Igor Semiletov has sailed the Russian arctic ocean for years checking for small plumes of dangerous Methane gas. He’s mapped many of these meters-wide plumes, emitting gas 20 times more damaging to our climate than carbon dioxide. But on his last trip, as he came across the first plume, he couldn’t believe it. It was a KILOMETER wide. A vast column of gas spewing into our atmosphere. He sailed on and found another a kilometer wide, and another, and another. Hundreds of them.
Scientists are investigating, but this could be what experts warned us about. As the earth warms, it creates many “tipping points” that accelerate the warming out of control. Warming thaws the Arctic sea ice and permafrost, releasing millions of tons of Methane gas, which massively accelerates warming, which warms the Arctic more, and so on. We spin out of control. Already this year — storms, temperatures — everything is off the charts.
Lets not lose track of the most important story however-the battle is within
Climate denial is funded by billionaires …. who just may need some time to sell off vast properties.
